It is projected that in 2027, the Russian Federation will harvest 148 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, which is 2.1% higher than the 2023 figure of 144.9 million tons. This forecast was presented by the government to the State Duma along with the budget package as part of the socio-economic development forecast for Russia for 2025-2027.
According to the document, in 2024, the sugar beet harvest volume will decrease by 14.4% compared to 2023 (53.1 million tons) to 45.5 million tons. In 2027, sugar beet sugar production will reach 6.7 million tons, which is 0.5% higher than the 2023 level.
Sunflower harvesting in 2024 is forecasted at 16.7 million tons, while in 2023, 17.3 million tons were harvested. According to the document, by 2027, the crop may increase to 17.5 million tons (a growth of 1.4% compared to 2023).
Considering the high harvest of the previous year, vegetable oil production is expected to increase by 0.9% to 9.8 million tons in 2024. By 2027, the production of crude vegetable oils will increase by 1.5% compared to the 2023 figure.
The macro forecast assumes that factors such as technological modernization, increased production efficiency, cost reduction, logistics development, and entry into new export markets will influence the development of animal husbandry in the medium term. In 2027, livestock and poultry production for slaughter (in live weight) will reach 17.9 million tons, which is 8.1% higher than the 2023 level.
According to the forecast, in 2027, the volumes of industrial meat and by-products output will reach 10.5 million tons, which is 7.7% higher than the 2023 level. Continued growth in raw milk production is expected in the dairy sector, including through increased cattle productivity. By 2027, raw milk production will reach 36.4 million tons, which is 7.7% higher than the 2023 level.
