From year to year, snow constantly falls in Altai, and farmers are already finishing harvesting late crops. At the same time, the Altai branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Center for Grain Quality Assessment” continues to conduct research on the new crop.
According to the latest data, regional farms have already harvested more than 2.5 million tons of soft wheat with a yield of 13.6 centners per hectare. More than half of this harvest was sent to the branch for research. According to test results, 53% of wheat corresponds to class 3, 30% to class 4, which is approximately 83% of quality grain suitable for food purposes, and 17% of feed grain.
As for durum wheat, its production in Altai is not as popular as soft wheat. However, by the beginning of November, about 90 thousand tons of this crop had been threshed and half of this volume was sent to the branch for quality assessment. According to research results, more than 55% of durum wheat in Altai corresponds to class 3, 7.5% to class 4 and almost 37% to class 5.
Also, grain from the Altai Territory continues to be supplied for research to assess the quality of barley, oats, buckwheat, sunflower, rapeseed and soybeans. Already, regional farmers have harvested 380 thousand tons of barley, 286 thousand tons of oats, 757 thousand tons of buckwheat, 266.5 thousand tons of sunflower, 277.5 thousand tons of rapeseed and 254 thousand tons of soybeans. Some of the harvest has already been assessed, and according to the results of the studies, most of the grain corresponds to the first and second classes.
