Over 200 Russian and more than 100 foreign delegates, including leaders from the Egyptian General Authority for Supplying Commodities, Brazilian Animal Protein Producers Association, Indian food holding Allana Group, Chinese corporation Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Trade Corporation, and other representatives of leading organizations and businesses from BRICS countries, are participating in the events.

In her welcome address, Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut expressed the key trends in global food security and emphasized the potential of BRICS countries in the agro-industrial complex and mutual trade.

“As the chair of the alliance this year, Russia will make every effort to ensure our work is as effective as possible. This conference was organized by us to enhance the work of BRICS in the agricultural sector. I am confident that it will be an effective platform for communication between business representatives of the alliance countries, helping to establish new business contacts and further strengthen relationships,” said Oksana Lut.

The Federal Center "Agroexport" and the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia organized a panel discussion for representatives of leading Russian and foreign companies titled "Development of mutual trade in agricultural products of BRICS countries." Dmitry Krasnov, the head of "Agroexport," moderated the discussion and presented data showing that BRICS countries occupy over 30% of agricultural lands, are responsible for over 40% of global grain and meat production, produce nearly 40% of dairy products, and more than 50% of fish and seafood.

“Trade between BRICS countries is also successful and dynamic. BRICS countries account for almost 20% of global trade turnover, and the export volume of products from the agro-industrial complex of BRICS countries from 2018 to 2022 has increased by 43%,” noted Dmitry Krasnov.

The CEO of "Trust Technologies - Consulting" Mikhail Magrilov noted that there is currently a differentiation in trade balances among BRICS countries, highlighting the significant growth potential in mutual trade and its effectiveness in various aspects, including logistics, prices, financial transactions, and product assortment. He added that more open markets, as well as harmonization of requirements and implementation of joint projects, are needed for development. Cooperation among BRICS countries in agriculture and food security, infrastructure projects, and tools development to strengthen positions in global markets continues.
