With reference to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Perm Krai and the company's press service, the Government of Perm Krai announces that in 2024, an expert council of the award selected 5 high-tech companies out of 340 applications. This award is given for innovations in industrial production and the release of new products for mass use. The selection criteria include technological novelty, economic effect, intersectoral nature of the project, and competitiveness in the global market.
One of the companies that presented its innovative technologies at the competition is LLC "KAMA". The company has developed a unique technique for producing FBB coated board packaging from bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BTMP) obtained from aspen balance.
This enterprise from Krasnokamsk is the only one in the world that uses aspen as a raw material for producing cardboard products. The use of aspen has improved the utilization of forest resources and increased efficiency in logging areas from 55% to 94-96%.
The new technology also allows for more efficient use of raw materials. When producing cellulose fiber from one ton of wood, 550-600 kg of material is obtained, whereas when producing BTMP from the same volume of raw material, 960-970 kg of fiber can be obtained. This not only reduces the use of chemicals, water, and electricity but also minimizes the negative impact on the environment.
Company KAMA is undergoing tests that confirm the compliance of its products, components, and technologies with global safety standards.
Currently, KAMA holds a significant share of the packaging market for tea, pasta products, tobacco, and pharmaceuticals. This allows the company to replace imported cardboard with domestic products.
KAMA's products will be presented at the stand of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia at the INNOPROM 2024 exhibition. The award winner will be announced at the main strategic session of the exhibition, which will be held in Yekaterinburg on July 8.
The construction of a cardboard manufacturing plant in Krasnokamsk is the largest investment project in the pulp and paper industry in the post-Soviet period, according to Perm Krai Governor Dmitry Makhonin.
The total investment in the project amounted to 25 billion rubles, which helped create 500 new jobs. This will also increase tax revenues to various budgets, contributing to the development of the region's social sphere.
KAMA is one of the leading producers of lightweight coated paper (LWC) and coated boxboard (FBB) in Russia. In 2023, the enterprise produced 213 thousand tons of coated board and 83 thousand tons of lightweight coated and offset paper.
The company places special emphasis on the implementation of advanced technologies that guarantee economic, environmental efficiency, and safety in the production process. KAMA's products have food certification according to international and Russian standards.
