The Ministry of Agriculture is reviewing mechanisms to support agricultural exports as part of the "Agricultural Products Export" project.

The Ministry of Agriculture is reconsidering the support schemes for agricultural exports within the "International Cooperation and Export" project, taking into account budget constraints. They plan to establish priority directions and export countries, as well as implement new financing mechanisms.

Agricultural export from Russia is aimed at friendly countries, with the goal of increasing the volume of exported products by 2030.

According to the Interfax agency report, the Ministry of Agriculture, working on extending the project "Export of Agricultural Products" as part of the federal project "International Cooperation and Export," is focusing on rethinking mechanisms of state support for agricultural exports in view of budgetary resources.

"In conditions of limited budgetary resources, we need to rethink export support mechanisms, and this is exactly what we are doing now. First and foremost, this will mean establishing priority directions and export countries. In addition, we intend to propose new mechanisms that have not been implemented within the national project," said Andrey Sukharev, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, during a roundtable discussion on the implementation of the federal project "International Cooperation and Export."

According to Sukharev, the developing version of the project's passport, currently being discussed in the government, includes new elements of trade financing.

He also noted that agricultural exports are generally aimed at friendly countries. "Since the beginning of 2021, we have increased supplies by almost a quarter. Currently, shipments to friendly countries account for 88% of the total volume of agricultural exports. We intend to maintain this share and strengthen our presence in friendly markets, despite possible obstacles," Sukharev emphasized.

Sukharev reminded that in 2023, the volume of agricultural exports from Russia amounted to 43.5 billion US dollars. In accordance with the task set by the President, by 2030 (compared to 2021), the export of agricultural products should increase by 1.5 times and reach 55.2 billion dollars, he explained.

His words are confirmed by the fact that Russian agricultural products are exported to more than 160 countries worldwide.

The federal project "International Cooperation and Export" was launched in 2018. Its goal is to increase the export of unprocessed non-energy goods from Russia. The main measures of the project include supporting exporters through programs to enhance competitiveness and subsidizing part of the transportation costs. The project was supposed to be implemented by 2024, however, a decision was made to extend it until 2030.
