The Grain Sellers Association has identified 13 countries where Russian grain and grain products will be exported without the help of foreign intermediaries.
"According to the association's decision, deliveries will be made directly to state institutions and independent buyers of the following countries: Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Qatar, Kuwait, South Korea, Pakistan, India, Iraq," said association chairman Eduard Zernin, as reported by the Interfax news agency.
According to him, the Association has approached the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation asking to officially inform representatives of foreign ministries and individuals from respective countries about the decision made at a joint meeting of the Association and the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, which took place on October 11, 2024, regarding the exclusion of foreign intermediaries from the supply chain of Russian wheat and other grain products.
Zernin clarified that member companies of the Association are not responsible for fulfilling the obligations of foreign winning companies in tenders if they do not have a long-term agreement with Russian exporters. "This decision applies to all deals concluded after October 11, 2024, and concerns the listed countries. Deals concluded before this date will be fully executed," emphasized the head of the association.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation supported the initiative of the Grain Sellers Association participants to develop direct grain export sales, bypassing traders and intermediaries from third countries. In particular, Russian exporters have taken the commitment not to provide Russian grain to foreign winning bidders on the basis of backing deals, based on the principle that "Russian grain should be supplied to consumers only by Russian exporters," as previously reported by the Association.
