But rice became more expensive by 0.62%, a week earlier - by 0.23%, and from the beginning of the year to August 28 it increased in price by 2.94%.
“As of August 30, the average producer price for buckwheat decreased by 12.3% since the beginning of the year, and for rice - by 4%,” the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.
The decrease in selling prices for the main types of cereals is facilitated by an increase in production volumes, the ministry explained, noting the positive dynamics of cereal production this year. "In January-July 2023, the total figure exceeded 1 million tons; including the production of buckwheat increased by 6.8%, oatmeal - by 19.9%, corn - by 4.3%. The current processing capacity allows us to fully meet the domestic market for these products,” the message says.
Since the beginning of harvesting the main cereal crops, 50.6 thousand tons of buckwheat have already been harvested, almost 2 times higher than last year; According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture, the gross harvest will exceed the level of 2022. The rice harvest is also expected to increase.
Buckwheat acreage this year was increased by 14.3%, to 1.3 million hectares. Its cultivation is carried out in 49 regions, the leading regions, which account for about 75% of the gross harvest, include the Altai Territory, Bashkiria, Kursk, Voronezh and Oryol regions. Rice crops increased by 7.4%, to 189.6 thousand hectares; it is grown in nine regions of the Russian Federation, and the leading regions include the Krasnodar Territory and Dagestan.
