Export of grain crops decreased by 17% in the Siberian Federal District due to record harvest last year.

The regions of Siberia have reduced wheat exports by 17% to 2.4 million tons due to record figures of the previous year and a decrease in crop yield. The export of oilseeds has fallen by 18%, while feed exports have increased by 85%. Despite the reduction in exports, agricultural producers remain in second place. Omsk region leads in the export of grain, wheat flour, and grain processing products.

The total grain harvest in Siberia in 2023 amounted to 14.25 million tons, which is 4 million tons less than the previous year.

During the agricultural year of June 30th, the regions of the Siberian Federal District exported 2.4 million tons of wheat. This volume is 17% lower than in the previous period. This information was provided by Maria Shostak, the director of the Altai branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Grain Quality Assessment Center." The decrease in export volumes is due to record levels achieved in the previous year and a decrease in wheat harvest.

Maria Shostak noted that the export volumes of grain crops decreased by 17% to 2.4 million tons. The export of oil crops decreased by 18% to 0.9 million tons. At the same time, there was a significant increase in the export of feed and their components (by 85% to 314 thousand tons), leguminous crops (by 47% to 369 thousand tons), and grain processing products (by 35% to 389 thousand tons). These data were provided by Shostak in an interview with TASS.

The director of the Altai branch noted that Siberian farmers, despite the reduction in grain export volumes, remain in second place after the record performance of the previous agricultural year. The decrease in grain export was influenced by a reduction in wheat harvest, which led to a 29% decrease in the export of this grain crop to 1.637 million tons. All other grain crops showed a significant increase. In addition, for the first time, the Omsk region took first place in grain exports, surpassing the Altai region, which now ranks third.

The Altai region holds the leading position in the export of grain processing products, sending 247 thousand tons of products abroad. The Omsk region is in second place with 44 thousand tons. In addition, wheat flour exports significantly increased in the region by 94%, reaching 204 thousand tons.

In 2023, the Siberian regions harvested 14.25 million tons of grain. This figure is 4 million tons less than in 2022. In the Altai Territory, the harvest amounted to 4.5 million tons (a decrease of 1.15 million tons), in the Omsk region - 2.51 million tons (a decrease of 405 thousand tons), in the Krasnoyarsk Territory - 2.46 million tons (a decrease of 410.3 thousand tons), in the Novosibirsk region - 2.28 million tons (a decrease of 1.08 million tons).
