Yuliya Shafikova, deputy director of the testing laboratory of the unit of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Grain Quality Assessment Center" in the Republic of Tatarstan, noted that the results of laboratory studies fully comply with the requirements of the standard GOST R 54631-2011 "Vetch feed. Technical specifications." In addition, no organisms posing a quarantine threat to the Russian Federation were found during the study.
Research on the quality and safety assessment of vetch feed was also conducted in preparation for export.
This year, the branch of the FSBI "Grain Quality Assessment Center" in the Republic of Tatarstan exported more than 1,480 tons of vetch.
The export was carried out by road transport to countries such as Belarus, Poland, and Germany. All samples were checked by the branch representatives for compliance with the safety and quality requirements set by the importing countries.
It is worth noting that the number of laboratory studies of vetch in 2024 increased by more than 1.5 times compared to the same period last year, and the volume of research in the branch of the Republic of Tatarstan increased by 2.7 times.
In 2023, 855 samples of vetch from batches with a total mass of 4556 tons were tested. All safety indicators were within the norm.
Vetch is a nutritious annual leguminous crop used in agriculture as a sowing and fodder plant. It is an environmentally friendly plant. Thanks to its rapid growth, vetch not only enriches the soil with nitrogen and improves its structure, but also suppresses weeds. These properties make vetch valuable in medicine, where it is used as a sedative, anticonvulsant, and neuropathic agent. Vetch contains dietary fiber, plant protein, cellulose, as well as vitamins and minerals necessary for the health of farm animals.
100 kg of vetch grain contains 116 feed units, and it can accumulate up to 30 kg of biomass per 10 sq. m in three months, characterized by a high content of nitrogen (160 g), potassium (200 g), and phosphorus (75 g). In addition, vetch is a honey plant, and bees can collect about 20 kg of honey per hectare of crops.
