Tuesday became a day of rising sugar prices. The October NY world sugar #11 (SBV24) closed up +0.57 (23.12; +2.53%), while the December London ICE white sugar #5 (SWZ24) showed an increase of +10.90 (595.40; +1.86%). This development is reported on the Barchart website.
On Tuesday, sugar prices rose slightly, and NY-sugar reached its highest level in 6-3/4 months. Due to dry conditions in Brazil, sugar production prospects in this country have decreased, pushing prices up.
Last week, Rabobank lowered its forecast for sugar production in Brazil for the 2024/25 year to 39.3 million tonnes, down from the previous 40.3 million tonnes, due to drought problems.
