Brazil plans to introduce a 15% biodiesel blend with diesel fuel (B15) in the next 60 days.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil intends to implement blending 15% biodiesel with diesel fuel in the next 60 days. The delay was caused by worsened weather conditions, which reduced the soybean harvest and led to an increase in oil prices. The government is concerned that the introduction of B15 could raise the cost of products.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, the implementation of a plan aimed at blending 15% biodiesel with diesel fuel may soon be carried out, as reported by Safras&Mercado platform.

According to the ministry's data, considering the decrease in the price of soybean oil in Brazil, the B15 blend could be introduced within the next 60 days. It's worth noting that the government's earlier decision to maintain the B14 mandate and delay the introduction of B15 was due to a significant increase in soybean oil prices in 2024, caused by adverse weather conditions and consequently a reduction in soybean crop yield in Brazil.

"Despite the fact that soybean oil prices in the domestic market are already decreasing, the government needs to act cautiously and thoughtfully. Introducing B15 at this time, when the industry plans to purchase new soybean crops at the end of February, may lead to a new price hike," noted ministry officials.
