The agro conglomerate "Bio-Ton," owning a land bank of 550,000 hectares in the Volga Federal District, has acquired land plots in the Stavropol Krai for growing oilseeds and leguminous crops. This was announced by the company's CEO Irina Logacheva at the exhibition "All-Russian Field Day – 2024" held at the MinvodyEXPO Convention Center.

"Over the past four years, we have been actively engaged in sunflower hybridization. We started with foreign companies and currently collaborate with domestic producers.

In our climatic region of the Volga Federal District, it is not always possible to grow seeds, so we turned our attention to the South. We have acquired land plots with the ability to connect irrigation systems. This year, we are launching the first stage of the project in the Petrovsky district of the Stavropol Krai, aimed at growing seeds.

We plan to focus on oilseeds and leguminous crops. These are promising crops that will help us adjust crop rotation and slightly reduce the shortage of grain in our region," Logacheva explained.

According to her, oilseed plants are very profitable, which is particularly important for the Volga Federal District. However, the CEO of the agroholding emphasized that expanding the area under sunflower cultivation is limited. Therefore, the company is forced to focus on increasing crop yields, production intensity, and reducing the cost of this crop.
