Agroholding "Lazarevskoye" has successfully completed the harvesting of main grain and leguminous crops and is currently engaged in harvesting rapeseed, with only sunflower and corn left to harvest in the later stages of autumn. The enterprise has identified certain nuances and positive trends during the current season. In 2025, the crop rotation has remained almost unchanged, except for an increase in the area under seed production. The work was carried out within tight deadlines, the yield of some crops decreased, prices of main products increased, production costs rose, and logistics took more time than usual.
As of the end of August, the average yield in Russia turned out to be lower than last year. For cereal and leguminous crops, the difference was 3.3 c/ha, and for wheat - 4.1 c/ha. The same trend is observed in the agroholding "Lazarevskoye."
“Spring frosts affected the pea and winter wheat harvest. Planned yields for peas and winter wheat were not met, despite additional fertilization. The yield of peas was 30 c/ha instead of the planned 40 c/ha, but this result was expected as pea yields usually increase every 3 years. For winter wheat, the yield was 48 c/ha instead of the planned 50 c/ha, which is a minor difference,” says Kristina Romanovskaya, the head of the agroholding.
Many experts note that the harvest was carried out in a tense mode, which is confirmed by the practice. The harvesting of grain and leguminous crops was completed in just 28 days.
“This allowed us to attract additional labor resources, which are currently lacking in the industry. In our case, this relates to the transportation of grain from the combine to the elevator,” says the head of the agroholding "Lazarevskoye."
Changes were also made to the crop rotation. Earlier, the enterprise announced its goal of completely abandoning grain for food, as the margin in this industry is too unstable. This year, the crop rotation was changed by eliminating the planting of potatoes and oats due to lack of profitability. It is also planned in the future to stop planting early spring crops that are sensitive to frosts, including partially canceling peas.
“This year, we were pleased with the prices of main crops. They are significantly higher than last year. The cost of barley almost doubled, and wheat became 40% more expensive,” says Kristina Romanovskaya.
However, the increase in margins for farmers may be offset by the increased cost of production inputs. For example, fuel prices constantly rise during the season, as well as the cost of spare parts for agricultural machinery. However, Kristina Romanovskaya notes the absence of significant fluctuations, which facilitates work in the agricultural sector.
“We also make major purchases in the winter-spring period when plants and manufacturers offer preseason discounts and try to buy spare parts as advantageously as possible. However, agriculture tends to require urgent repairs. When harvesting takes only a month, the price is not too important. The main thing is to get the spare part in principle,” shares the experience of the new season Kristina Romanovskaya.
Delivery times for spare parts have increased by one to two weeks compared to last year. When harvesting takes only a month, this becomes a significant factor in work. Obviously, logistics challenges from unfriendly countries will intensify year by year. In addition, problems with emergency orders arise, as centralized warehouses of manufacturers in Russia are closed. Suppliers have to search for spare parts throughout the country. It is important to note that the import substitution strategy has been successfully implemented by the enterprise for several years and has a systematic nature.
