In the upcoming year of 2024, the sugar plant Zherdevsky processed 707 thousand tons of sugar beets and obtained 113 thousand tons of sugar. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, the quality of the raw material was high. The season concluded on January 12, 2025, after which the plant summarized its results and made plans for the new season, according to information from Zherdevka News.
Initially, it was planned to harvest 850 thousand tons of beets, but due to drought, the planned target was not achieved. Nevertheless, compared to 2023, the season progressed more steadily: there were no long shutdowns or serious breakdowns. The General Director Elena Popova emphasized that this was the merit of the entire team, which professionally prepared the equipment.
In the upcoming year 2025, the plant plans to increase processing volumes to 800 thousand tons in 140 days. To achieve this, the plant will conduct extensive preparation: replace metal structures, pipelines, pumps, update the insulation of equipment, repair the lime-gas furnace, and asphalt the roads around the finished product warehouse. Cooperation with the plant has already been established with 15 agricultural enterprises, and contracts are currently being concluded.
The main problem remains the lack of experienced workers, especially fitters-electricians, mechanics, and specialists in production control and automation. The plant collaborates with a local college, where students undergo internships, and some of them stay at the enterprise. The average age of workers is 35-45 years, and among them, there are young families and dynasties.
