The ban on imports of products has been extended until 2026: how will it affect Russian agriculture.

The ban on the import of agricultural products from Western countries, introduced in 2014, has been extended until the end of 2026 by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation. This decision, characterized as bold and risky, has justified itself by contributing to the development of domestic agriculture. The Russian agro-industrial complex has shown significant success and the country has become self-sufficient.

The ban on the import of agricultural products from Western countries, which was introduced in 2014, has been extended for two more years. According to the presidential decree signed by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, the ban will be in effect from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.

"The term of certain economic measures established by the presidential decree of the Russian Federation of August 6, 2014, No. 560 'On the application of certain special economic measures to ensure the security of the Russian Federation' will be extended from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026," the document says.

Previously, such measures were taken for no more than one year.

President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, characterized this decision as bold and risky, but fully justified, having a positive impact on the development of domestic agriculture. Since then, Russia's agro-industrial complex has demonstrated significant achievements, and the country has fully provided itself with all the necessary food products.
