The Head of Agriculture of the Voronezh Region, Alexey Sapronov, announced the region's readiness for the beginning of the spring sowing season at an operational meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
Due to the introduction of a state of emergency in 2024, the region has already sown 699.1 thousand hectares (95% of the plan) of winter crops for the 2025 harvest, with 90% being seeds of domestic selection. Currently, about 75% of winter crops are in good or satisfactory condition, while 25% have low germination rates or have not grown at all. The further condition of winter crops will depend on the weather conditions.
The total sowing area for this year amounts to 2.7 million hectares.
The preparation of seeds for spring crops continues. As of today, 136 thousand tons of spring grains and leguminous crops have been loaded (112% of the plan), including 2.8 thousand tons of maize for grain (57% of the plan).
