In Kaliningrad, an experiment with labeling vegetable oil was successfully conducted, marking the first case in Russia. The press service of the Center for the Development of Promising Technologies (ЦРПТ), responsible for the "Honest Label" labeling system, reported that the codes were scanned without any issues.
"We recognized and supported the government's initiative to implement a labeling system for this industry and decided to conduct an experiment at our production facility. We manually applied data matrix codes to linseed oil as a test sample. The experiment was successful, the codes were scanned without difficulty," said Pavel Vlasov, the founder of the oil manufacturing company "Маслендорф," as quoted by the press service of ЦРПТ.
Yulia Kuzmina, the head of the excise-free food products department at ЦРПТ, stated that the experiment will help develop a general labeling scheme and principles, as well as test methods for applying identification markers to goods. Already, 55 participants have joined the pilot project for labeling vegetable oils.
The experiment on labeling vegetable oils is taking place in Russia from December 25, 2023, to August 31, 2024. Manufacturers of various types of vegetable oils, including soybean, peanut, olive, palm, sunflower, and coconut oils, have the opportunity to participate voluntarily in the testing.
