Iran's grain production will exceed 21 million tons in 2023. According to a UN FAO report, Iran grew 21.1 million tons of grain in 2023, making it the fourth largest grain reserve in Asia. These data were presented by the online publication Tasnim News Agency on November 5. Over the past year, grain production in Iran has increased by 2% compared to 2022, when 20.6 million tons were harvested.
Wheat production deserves special attention, which in 2023 amounted to 13.5 million tons, exceeding last year’s figures by 500 thousand tons. However, the production of other grain crops remained the same.
It is important to note that China is currently the country with the largest grain reserves in the world, amounting to 399 million tons. India ranks second with reserves of 64 million tons, and Turkey rounds out the top three with reserves of 12.7 million tons.
Iran is actively developing agriculture and continues to increase grain production, which is important for ensuring the country's food security. The positive dynamics in the grain sector reflects the Iranian government's efforts to develop agriculture and provide necessary resources to its citizens.
Thus, Iran continues to develop positively in the agricultural sector and grain production is expected to continue to grow in the coming years, which will contribute to the stability of the food market and the economic development of the country.
