In Bashkortostan, the first 102,000 tons of grain from the new harvest have been collected. The average productivity in the republic is 35 centners per hectare, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The current indicator is 40% higher than in the same period last year, reaching 25 centners per hectare, as reported by the RBK Ufa news portal.
"The majority of the harvest consists of winter wheat grain, 94.5 thousand tons, while the rest include rye, triticale, and others," the Ministry of Agriculture noted.
Currently, the harvest is underway in 26 districts of the republic. The largest areas were cultivated in the Aurgazinsky and Sterlitamaksky districts — approximately 17,000 and 18,000 hectares respectively. Productivity in these two districts exceeds 40 centners per hectare.
However, field work this year is progressing slower than in the summer of 2023. The reason for the slowdown is the rainy weather. For comparison, by July 30 last year, 150 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops were already harvested, totaling 380 thousand tons of grain.
It is planned that this summer the grain and leguminous crop in the republic will amount to 3.5 million tons, and oil crops to 600 thousand tons. Agricultural crops will be harvested on an area of 2.8 million hectares, of which grain and leguminous crops represent more than 1.6 million hectares.
In the previous 2023 season, 3 million tons of grain were harvested. The Ministry of Agriculture called last year the most difficult for farmers. About 150 enterprises in the region suffered due to unfavorable weather conditions, with damages estimated at over 1 billion rubles.
A record harvest was gathered in 2022 — over 5 million tons. Such a result was achieved for the first time since 1986.
