In 2023, Russia increased the export of vegetable oil by a third, reaching more than 6.5 million tons. Particularly significant growth was noted in the export of sunflower oil, which increased by 31% to 4.29 million tons. The share of sunflower oil in the total volume of exports of all types of oils from Russia amounted to more than 65%. China and India became the main buyers, where 897 thousand tons and 885 thousand tons were sent, respectively.
Exports of soybean oil also increased by 8% to 668 thousand tons. India and Algeria became the purchasing leaders, purchasing 208 thousand tons and 180 thousand tons, respectively.
The greatest growth was noted in the export of rapeseed oil, which increased by 58%. A total of about 1.55 million tons were shipped, of which more than 1.4 million tons were sent to China.
There is also an increase in the export of meal. The total supply of all types of meal in 2023 is estimated at 3.88 million tons, which is 28% more than in 2022. Sunflower meal exports amounted to 2.34 million tons, which is 12% more. The main buyers were Türkiye and Belarus.
Soybean meal export volumes also increased significantly, reaching 782 thousand tons, an increase of 34%. Belarus and Türkiye became leaders in procurement.
In addition, 738 thousand tons of rapeseed meal were exported. EU countries showed the greatest demand, especially Lithuania and France.
