In the Rostov region, the harvesting campaign continues, which started last week. At the moment, 23 out of 43 rural districts are actively participating in this process, according to information from the regional government.
This year, due to weather conditions, the harvest started earlier than usual. Farmers from the southern districts were the first to join the harvesting campaign, and each day farmers from other districts of the Rostov region join them.
Currently, more than 445 thousand tons of early grains and leguminous crops have already been collected, with an area of about 140 thousand hectares processed, which is 4.4% of the planned harvesting area.
The average yield is 31.8 centners per hectare, noted the deputy governor of the Rostov region and Minister of Agriculture and Food, Konstantin Rachalovsky.
According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Rostov region, in total in 2024, farmers are expected to harvest early grains and leguminous crops on an area of 3 million 216 thousand hectares, taking into account all incidents. Last year, the harvesting area was 3 million 469 thousand hectares. This includes:
- winter wheat - 2.7 million hectares;
- barley (winter and spring) - 243.6 thousand hectares;
- leguminous crops - 212 thousand hectares;
- other early grains - 30.4 thousand hectares.
