Turkey plans to offer an extension of the grain deal for another year as the current deal expires on November 19. This was announced by Turkey's Minister of National Defense, Hulusi Akar, in an interview with journalists in Ankara, as reported by TASS.
"Ukraine has given assurances to Russia through Turkey that it will not use the safe corridor in the Black Sea for military purposes. We will propose to extend the agreement for another year," the head of the Turkish Ministry of Defense emphasized.
Akar noted that the grain agreement is an example of how parties can solve issues through negotiations. He also expressed hope for a ceasefire and achieving peace between Ukraine and Russia, neighboring countries in the Black Sea, through peaceful conflict resolution.
Russia decided to participate again in the grain deal on November 2 after receiving written assurances from Ukraine regarding the non-military use of the safe corridor in the Black Sea, through the efforts of the UN and Turkey, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense. At the same time, Moscow stated its right to withdraw from the agreement if Kiev violates the provided guarantees.
