At the top in terms of grain volume are the farmers of Petrovsky and Rasskazovsky municipal districts, and in terms of yield - agricultural producers from Staroyuryevsky (41.9 c/ha) and Pervomaisky (40.3 c/ha) municipalities.
Peas and winter wheat are harvested from almost 70% of the region's area. The average yield of peas is 22.2 c/ha, and wheat - 35.8 c/ha.
In addition, other crops - winter rye, barley, spring wheat, and oats - are harvested in farms during hot summer days.
During a recent working meeting, the head of the Tambov region, Maxim Egorov, informed the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Oksana Lut, that the harvest is proceeding as usual, and all necessary resources are available.
Despite spring frosts and reseeding, the region managed to maintain the sowing area at 1.9 million hectares, although the weather may affect the yield reduction compared to last year.
Overall, it is expected to harvest at least 4 million tons of grain crops and 4.7 million tons of sugar beets (in 2023 it was 5 and 6 million tons, respectively). There may be a lower harvest of sunflower and potatoes, however, an increase in soybeans and vegetables is forecasted compared to last year.
It is worth noting that the Tambov region ranks third in Russia in barley production, fourth in corn, and fifth in soybeans. In 2023, crop production in the region increased by almost 20%.
"The effective work of enterprises is supported by government assistance. In 2024, approximately 2 billion rubles of government support will be allocated to the Tambov region, and at the moment, over 60% of this amount has already been received by the recipients," noted the Minister of Agriculture of the region, Alena Sytova.
