Participants were invited to a challenge that included several laps around the track and the use of drones to transport hay to a truck. Regional competitions on unmanned aerial vehicle management in the field of agronomy were included in the program of the All-Russian Forum "For Agro - Future." The main goal of the competition was to interest young people in unmanned aviation technology, familiarize participants with the use of drones in agriculture, and identify talented students interested in further education in this field.
A total of 32 teams of students and schoolchildren from the Tomsk region took part in the competition. In the team standings, participants were evaluated based on the number of times they flew through the ring using the "Basic Pioneer" quadcopter. Participants also had to move the maximum number of hay bales into the truck using a special grabbing device. The participant who managed to load more hay received a higher score.
Individual participants were offered to fly several laps around the track in FPV piloting mode and complete the track on a 3D simulator.
"This year, 150 schoolchildren and students took part in the competition," says Olga Gretskaya, deputy dean for educational work at the Faculty of Innovative Technologies (FIT) of Tomsk State University. "Some of the kids have already participated in hackathons and other competitions. It is important to note that thanks to their experience, they possess skills in piloting unmanned aerial systems equivalent to the level of first-year students."
In the overall standings, two teams emerged victorious: the "P.I.P." team from secondary school No. 4 named after I.S. Chernykh won in the junior league, and the "Sacramento" team from the "Eureka-razvitie" school took first place in the senior league. In the individual standings, 27 participants were recognized.
The winners of the competition received bonus points for admission to the Advanced Engineering School "Agrobiotec" and the Faculty of Innovative Technologies at TSU.
It is worth noting that the "AgroBAS" competition was organized with the support of the Administration of the Tomsk Region, Tomsk State University, Tomsk Agricultural College, the Advanced Engineering School "Agrobiotec" of TSU, and the Drone Racing Federation of Russia. The general partner of the competition was JSC "Sibagro."
