The development strategy for the production of organic products until 2030 was approved by the Russian government in July 2023. It is aimed at developing domestic agriculture and increasing the production of organic agricultural products. Organic products are produced without the use of mineral fertilizers and chemicals; instead, biological products, organic fertilizers, green fertilizers and microbiological fertilizers are used.
Today, organic food and agricultural raw materials are produced in 47 regions of Russia. Manufacturers offer a wide range of organic products on the market, including cereals, flour, baby food, canned food and juices, meat and milk, nuts and berries, vegetables and fruits, feed and other products.
The government also plans to conclude an agreement on the procedure for recognizing organic products within the Eurasian Economic Union. This will simplify the procedure for recognizing organic products and ensure their availability to a larger number of consumers. The agreement could be concluded by the end of 2024.
The government's goal is to make organic products accessible to the masses. The implementation of the strategy for the development of the production of organic products and the conclusion of an agreement on the recognition of organic products within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union contribute to achieving this goal.
