"The cost of meat during the May holidays increases on average by 15%, while consumer interest increases by 40%. Kebabs made from pork, chicken, veal, and lamb are very popular. It is important to know that in the region, 105 thousand tons of meat were produced in the first two months of 2024. Beef production increased by 29.7%, pork by 20.9%, and meat and poultry products by 38.9%," - said the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region - the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region, Vladislav Murashov.
He reminded that it is advisable to purchase meat products exclusively at food markets, as well as in chain and retail stores with the relevant veterinary documents. If the sale of low-quality products or the absence of a veterinary certificate is detected, it is recommended to contact Rospotrebnadzor.
The most popular choice for making May kebabs among Russian consumers is pork, followed by chicken.
As for marinades, the most common basic combination includes onion, salt, pepper, vinegar, as well as a kefir marinade, consisting of low-fat kefir with khmeli-suneli, onion, salt, and black pepper. When marinating chicken, mayonnaise with shallots, curry, salt, and black pepper are often used.
