The SovEcon company, against the backdrop of improving weather conditions, raised the forecast for wheat harvest in Russia this year to 86.8 million tons from 85.3 million tons, which was forecast earlier, the company said.
According to experts, since the weather conditions for winter wheat were favorable during the critical period of the season, its yield estimate was increased from 3.78 t/ha to 3.9 t/ha. "The pre-harvest area is still estimated at 16.1 million hectares. The assessment of the winter wheat harvest has increased from 60.9 million to 62.8 million tons," the report says.
The estimate for the spring wheat crop was reduced to 24.1 million tons amid a reduction in the projected area from 13.2 million to 13 million hectares. The yield of spring wheat is still estimated at 1.85 t/ha.
In 2022, the wheat harvest in Russia amounted to 104.2 million tons against 76.1 million tons in 2021.
