Sobsk Fish Farm has taken on the task of breeding Siberian grayling. This is being done as part of scientific research. Every day, specialists select the optimal biotechnical parameters for the successful artificial reproduction of fish.

At the moment, the stages of fertilization and incubation of the eggs, as well as the hatching and rearing of the fry, have already been completed. Grayling fry have started swimming actively and feeding externally; the very first individuals have reached a weight of 40 mg.

"In Russia, grayling have been bred artificially for a long time, but this process has not reached the scale of breeding sturgeons, salmon, and sig fish. Such work began for the first time at the Sobsk Fish Farm in the Ob-Irtysh fishery basin," noted the director of the plant, Elena Ryabova.

As part of the research, it is planned to grow grayling fry at the fish farm for at least a year, while carefully monitoring the rates of their growth. The main task of the Yamal fish farmers is to create a population of reproducing individuals. If the experiment at the Sobsk Fish Farm is successful, breeding of this fish species will begin.

Breeding valuable fish species in Yamal is a joint effort of the government of the autonomous district, research institutes, and subsoil users. Over eight years of operation, the Sobsk Fish Farm has released around 120 million fry of valuable fish species, mostly muksun and chir. This year, the plant participated for the first time in breeding nelma.
