As a result of the crop loss of grain crops, a state of emergency was declared in four districts of the Trans-Baikal Territory. At the end of September, a snowfall occurred, as reported by the Minister of Agriculture of the region, Denis Bochkarev.

A commission of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Trans-Baikal Territory has been appointed in the districts affected by the snowfall to assess the damage. 21 thousand hectares of fields were covered with snow, and according to preliminary estimates, 14 thousand hectares of crops were affected. The state of emergency was introduced in the Alexandrov-Zavodsky, Priargunsky districts, Kalgansky and Krasnokamensky districts.

In the near future, a meeting of the regional operational headquarters will be held to declare a state of emergency at the regional level.

On September 29, an abnormal amount of snow fell in the Trans-Baikal Territory. 20-22 millimeters of precipitation fell in the Priargunsky, Trans-Baikal, and Krasnokamensky districts, which is 75% of the monthly norm. This led to difficulties in traffic on regional and federal roads.

In the summer, a state of emergency was also declared in the Trans-Baikal Territory due to dry and hot weather. The peak of the drought occurred in July. Moisture was intensively evaporating from the soil, and moisture reserves in the arable layer dropped to critical levels. This led to the death of agricultural crops and the absence of natural grasslands for fodder harvesting. According to preliminary data, 26.5 thousand hectares of crops were affected by the drought.
