Tamara Slabukho from Irbeisky district, together with her husband and daughter, successfully develop their agricultural business. There are four more employees working on their farm. Restaurants in Krasnoyarsk happily purchase their agricultural products. This year, Tamara acquired the newest equipment for feed collection - a modern bale wrapper and shredder. Part of these expenses is compensated to her from federal and regional budgets.
The farmer believes that sheep farming is a profitable and less laborious occupation compared to, for example, breeding cattle, although taking care of farm animals has never been easy.
"We used to keep cows, but eventually switched to sheep and rams. You feed and water them, and they are already content. However, agriculture always poses complexity: waking up early, serving everyone, finding a place to sell products, and so on. Taking care of animals also requires expenses," says Tamara.
The farm also receives government support from the Ministry of Agriculture of the region in various directions. In particular, a grant was allocated for the purchase of milking sheep, reconstruction of production premises, and opening a meat processing plant. The business is thriving more and more, and in the near future, they plan to start producing processed products on the farm.
"Family farms" is one of the long-standing and successfully established programs in Russia. Starting this year, governmental support is provided in the form of subsidies.
The Minister of Agriculture of the region, Ilya Vasiliev, noted that all applications this year have successfully passed the selection process, and agricultural producers will be provided with subsidies until the end of September.
"The funding format in this area has changed, and not everyone could adapt quickly. I am sure that next year, the number of those wishing to receive governmental support under this program will be higher. The development of family farms in the region contributes to the transfer of businesses between generations in rural economy. Furthermore, farming is one of the main components of small settlements and food security. Therefore, supporting small businesses, creating conditions for opening new small enterprises in rural areas, and expanding the scope of their activities is our priority," he emphasized.
