At a video conference chaired by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Andrey Razin, a meeting on readiness for the sowing campaign in the Ural Federal District took place. The event was attended by management bodies of the agro-industrial complex (AIC) and representatives of relevant services.
The AIC of the Ural Federal District plays a significant role in the Russian economy. More than 4% of grain and leguminous crops, 8.7% of potatoes, and 3.5% of vegetables are produced annually compared to the total figures for the country. For example, the plan for 2025 anticipates a sowing area of 5 million hectares, almost at the level of last year's data. In addition, an increase of 12% in the area allocated for oilseed crops is planned.
Meeting participants noted that fieldwork is scheduled to begin in mid-April in the southern part of the Ural Federal District. It was emphasized that preparations for sowing in the regions are proceeding steadily. Farmers have received a full set of necessary material and technical resources. It is important to highlight that as of today, 94% of the expected volume of seeds for grain and leguminous crops are verified and ready for sowing.
Andrey Razin drew the attention of the heads of agricultural management bodies in the regions to the importance of adhering to the forecast structure of sown areas, the plan for purchasing mineral fertilizers and agricultural machinery. Furthermore, the importance of complying with fire safety measures at enterprises was emphasized.
It is important to note that the Deputy Minister of Agriculture also underscored the importance of timely delivery of state support to its recipients. Entities are recommended to intensify their efforts to put abandoned agricultural land back into circulation.
