The process of collecting the main export crop of the Primorsky Krai - soybeans - is currently only 30% complete, despite the onset of frosts. This information was reported by the press service of the government of the Primorsky Krai.

During the past night, the air temperature in the Primorsky Krai sharply dropped compared to the previous night. For instance, in Vladivostok, the temperature decreased by 12 degrees, and in Lesozavodsk - by almost 16 degrees. Negative temperatures were recorded in places such as Khorol, Barabash, Luchegorsk, and Lesozavodsk.

"Harvesting is ongoing in Primorye. Agricultural producers of the region are harvesting soybeans, rice, potatoes, and vegetables from their fields. As reported by the regional Ministry of Agriculture, farmers have almost reached 30% of the plan for the main export crop - soybeans. Currently, 43 thousand hectares of soybeans have been harvested, yielding 68 thousand tons of beans," the press release states.

It is specified that in the Primorsky Krai, 7.7 thousand tons of rice have already been harvested from 2 thousand hectares, which corresponds to 15% of the plan. At the same time, the potato and vegetable harvest is coming to an end, with farmers collecting 44 and 20 thousand tons of these crops, respectively.

The harvest season in the region follows a challenging start to the agricultural season. The planting campaign for soybeans, one of the two main export crops of the region, was delayed due to prolonged rains in the Primorsky Krai in May and June this year, which resulted in half of the planned areas not being sown. In June, floodwaters inundated over 113 thousand hectares of agricultural land in the Primorsky Krai. Early grains, soybeans, and corn were particularly affected.
