Roman Kovalsky, assistant to the head of the government of the Saratov region and Minister of Agriculture, stated that this year the region has sown sugar beets on 14.1 thousand hectares. This is an increase of 125% compared to last year and has set a record for the region.

Agriculture is developing in six different districts. In 2024, the Saratov region planted five Russian sugar beet hybrids. The total purchase was 2.9 thousand seeds, which is 3.5 times more than the previous year. Kovalsky emphasized that there are plans for further increasing the share of domestic seeds to ensure the country's food security.

Currently, 2.3 thousand hectares of sugar beets have been harvested (16% of the plan), resulting in the harvest of 74 thousand tons with a yield of 322.2 centners per hectare.
