One of the main tasks of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture this year is to increase the proportion of sowing domestic breeding seeds of field crops. According to Olga Gorbaneva, the Rostov region plans to increase the share of domestic corn and sunflower seeds in commercial plantings to 68% and 57% respectively.
In addition, it is also planned to increase the area of seed plantings of corn and sunflower. The area of seed plantings for sunflower should reach 3 thousand hectares, and for corn - 250 hectares.
In 2024, the share of sowing domestic breeding seeds in commercial plantings of corn was 62%, and sunflower - 43%. Thus, the plans to increase the proportion of domestic seeds in the sowing campaign of 2025 are quite ambitious and aimed at strengthening Russian agriculture.
