Agricultural development in the Lipetsk region is progressing at an advanced pace, surpassing the results of the previous year. The area allocated for sowing spring cereals and leguminous crops is 84%, equivalent to 295 thousand hectares. Areas sown with spring wheat cover 128 thousand hectares (83%), barley - 136 thousand hectares (88%), peas - 25.5 thousand hectares (86%). Lupine has been sown on 76% of the areas, while oat sowing is completed.
In eight districts and areas, maize planting for grain has already begun, although this crop is usually planted in May. Currently, maize has been sown on 8 thousand hectares. Last year, farmers started planting maize at the end of April, but by a similar date only 500 hectares had been sown.
In the Gryazinsky, Dankovsky, Dobrinsky, Yeletsky, Terbunsky districts, and the Lipetsk area, soybean planting has also begun. This year, the areas under this crop have increased to a record 200 thousand hectares. So far, only 3 thousand hectares have been planted. Last year at this time, soybeans had not yet been sown.
Sugar beet planting is also progressing ahead of schedule: 64% of the areas have been sown compared to 52% last year. Currently, work has been completed on 74 thousand hectares. A total of 116 thousand hectares are reserved for this sweet root crop. Spring rapeseed has been sown on 30 thousand hectares out of the planned 60 thousand. Sunflower is planted on 60 thousand hectares (31% compared to 19% the previous year). One-year grasses cover 6 thousand hectares out of the planned 11 thousand.
