Wheat production growth: Egypt plans to increase the harvested wheat volume to 9.2 million tons by 2024/25.

According to the FAS USDA forecast in Cairo, Egypt is expected to see an increase in wheat production by the 2024/25 season due to expanding acreage and improved yields, as reported by World Grain.

The forecast suggests that the harvested wheat production could reach 9.2 million tons, up from 8.87 million tons in the previous year. The increase in grain production is also driven by high procurement prices set by the government.

It is expected that wheat imports into the country will amount to 12.5 million tons by the end of the season, in line with the previous season's figure of 2023/24.

In addition, experts note that the currency appreciation has stimulated the importation of key commodities, including wheat, in both the public and private sectors, leading to vessel congestion at ports.
