Russia is increasing sunflower oil supplies to India, with further export volume growth expected.

The Russian Federation has increased sunflower oil exports to India almost threefold compared to 2023. It is projected that this trend of growth will continue in the future.

India is one of the main and long-term buyers of oil and fat products from Russia. Vegetable oils are a key element of the population's diet, and their consumption is increasing year by year. Russia supplies over a third of the total exported volume of sunflower oil to the Indian market, as stated by Mikhail Maltsev, the Executive Director of the Russian Union of Fat-and-Oil Producers, in a comment for the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Agroexport" available on the sfera.fm portal.

From September to June of the current season, the import of Russian sunflower oil to India has tripled compared to the same period of the previous season 2022/23. The Indian share accounts for 32% of all exports of domestic sunflower oil. According to the forecasts of the Fat-and-Oil Producers Union, by the end of the current season, the supply of vegetable oils from Russia to the Indian market will be approximately 1.7 million tons, with sunflower oil accounting for nearly 1.5 million tons. The main continuing factor is the competitive price, and global oil prices are currently following the same trend established last year.

If the global market conditions do not undergo significant changes, experts anticipate that the shipment volumes in this direction will continue to grow.
