In September 2021, the national plant quarantine and protection organization of India presented phytosanitary requirements for lentils and allowed the shipment of trial batches. The supply of these batches started in 2022 under the control of Rosselkhoznadzor.

Laboratory tests confirmed that all batches of Russian lentils meet phytosanitary requirements, thus India has allowed regular exports.

According to information from the FGIS "Argus-Phyto" as of September 22, 2024, since the beginning of this year, Russia has supplied India with 545 thousand tons of various leguminous crops, which is 23 times higher than the figure for the same period last year.
