Oksana Lut noted that according to the results of the previous year, all the goals of the state program were achieved, and the assessment by the Ministry of Economic Development showed that the program is one of the most effective.
Crop production is the main factor driving the growth of Russia's agro-industrial complex. Last year, the volume of agricultural production increased by almost 15%. Historical records were set for many agricultural crops.
There is also a growth in the production of livestock products, especially meat and milk. Increased raw material volumes have allowed for an increase in the output of food and processing industries. In light of the growing consumer demand, enterprises continue to increase production volumes this year.
The Minister also spoke about the growth rates of wages in agriculture. Last year, wages increased by 16%, and this year by another 9%. These wage growth rates are among the highest in the economy.
Last year, the export of agro-industrial products reached a record level of 43.5 billion dollars at current prices. More than 100 million tons of food were supplied to international markets, nearly three times the level of 2013.
Currently, Russia holds a leading position in the world in wheat and frozen fish exports, and also became a leader in barley and peas in the last season. Supplies of processed products, including sugar, sunflower and rapeseed oil, as well as flour, continue to grow.
This year, the industry continues to see stable growth in all key directions.
In the first seven months, agricultural production increased by 2%, and the production of food products by almost 5%. Meat and sausage products, milk and cheese, flour and cereals, vegetable oils, and confectionery products also increased production. Livestock breeders demonstrated good results – production of cattle, poultry, and raw milk increased. Positive results are expected in crop production despite the challenging weather conditions faced by farmers this year.
Oksana Lut emphasized that the harvested crops of key agricultural crops will meet the needs of the domestic market and maintain a significant export potential.
The Minister reminded that Vladimir Putin set a goal for the agricultural sector to increase agricultural production by 25% and exports by one and a half times by 2030. To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Agriculture has developed a plan for the national project "Technological Support for Food Security."
Within this project, five federal programs have been included, aimed at the development of breeding and genetics, biotechnologies, production of veterinary drugs, agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as the training of qualified personnel for the industry.
During the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture responded to questions from deputies regarding the improvement of measures for state support of farmers, increasing the profitability of agricultural producers, comprehensive rural development, and other relevant issues.
