In the discussion, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Andrey Razin, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council on Agrarian Policy and Nature Management Sergey Mitin, Head of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Rashid Temrezov, as well as leaders of major industry enterprises and representatives of scientific institutions also took part.

Before the meeting, welcoming words were voiced by the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko and the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Oksana Lut.

Speaking to representatives of the horticultural industry, Andrey Razin noted that horticulture is one of the most important directions for the development of the Russian agro-industrial complex. The volumes of fruit and berry production increase annually, advanced methods are being introduced in the regions.

"Much of what has been done in this area in recent years has been done through the initiative of our governor’s corps. The results of Russian horticulture are impressive, and they indicate that we can set even more ambitious goals. It is known that the country's leadership has set a task to achieve 100% self-sufficiency with domestic apples by 2028. This is two years earlier than the initial plans. I am convinced that together we can achieve this goal," emphasized Andrey Razin.

Vladimir Vladimirov noted significant progress in horticulture in the Stavropol Territory, and now their representatives are sharing their experience with other regions. He provided data: the area of fruit orchards in the Stavropol Territory exceeds 12 thousand hectares, and this number grows every year.

"Year after year, we expand the areas of new intensive orchards by 500-600 hectares. Accordingly, productivity is increasing. In 2024, more than 87 thousand tons of fruits and berries were harvested. But our main pride is our own planting material. To date, the capacities of Stavropol nurseries allow us to grow 5-6 million seedlings per year, which are on par with the best global specimens in terms of potential and productivity. Stavropol feels the support of the federal center at all stages of this work. Together we will solve the industry's challenges," emphasized Vladimir Vladimirov in his welcoming speech.

Roman Nekrasov, head of the Department of Plant Growing, Mechanization, Chemization, and Plant Protection of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, presented a report on the current state and prospects for the development of the horticultural industry in the Russian Federation.

The meeting discussed important aspects of horticultural development and strategies for further strengthening the potential of this industry.
