The record grain yield in the Krasnodar region is over 100 c/ha thanks to our own breeding seeds.

The Krasnodar Krai has set a Russian record for grain yield - over 100 centners per hectare thanks to seeds of its own selection. 80% of the crop will be used for food purposes. The governor highlighted the successes of agricultural policy aimed at replacing imports in seed farming.

One of the farms in the Krasnodar Region has set a Russian record for grain yield, exceeding 100 centners per hectare, thanks to the use of seeds from their own selection as part of the region's agricultural policy aimed at import substitution. Vice Governor of the region Andrey Korobka reported this, cited by TASS. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, 80% of the harvested grain is intended for food purposes.

“A record has been set in Russia - more than 100 centners per 1 hectare,” Korobka said, noting that this result was achieved in one of the farms in the Krasnodar Region. According to him, the best in terms of yield this year were the Yeisk and Tbilissky districts.

He emphasized that such results were achieved thanks to the agricultural policy aimed at import substitution in seed production, as well as state support for the industry. High yields are provided by varieties of their own selection, as seeds of foreign selection are not adapted to the climatic conditions observed this year: spring frosts and summer drought.

“New varieties of domestic selection have appeared, which have greater potential than traditional ones. Breeding is moving in the right direction. The grain quality this year is slightly lower than last year, mainly due to weather conditions. Food grain products account for about 80%,” said the Vice Governor of the Krasnodar Region.

Earlier, the Governor of the Krasnodar Region Veniamin Kondratyev reported that the region was one of the first in Russia to complete the harvesting campaign for winter crops. From a total area of over 1.9 million hectares, farmers harvested almost 11.9 million tons of grain, which is 602 thousand tons more than in 2023. In particular, wheat accounted for more than 10.2 million tons. The average yield in the region was 62.3 centners per hectare.
