The Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) has presented its first forecasts regarding grain harvest in Russia by 2025. According to their estimates, the volume of the crop may reach around 130 million tons. This information is reported by the publication "Kommersant".
IKAR estimated the wheat harvest for the following year in the range of 81–85 million tons.
Dmitry Rylko, the general director of IKAR, noted that both forecasts are "extremely preliminary". He also identified a significant lag in the development of winter crops as one of the main issues. According to him, in some regions, there are still no seedlings.
"Of course, there is no catastrophe: in some regions, rain will come, and the wheat will grow. However, the serious lag remains the main problem," Mr. Rylko pointed out.
The preliminary forecast by "Sovekon" states that the wheat harvest in Russia by 2025 will be 80.1 million tons, which is a decrease of 1.7% compared to the current year (81.5 million tons) and a decrease of 9.1% compared to the five-year average (88.1 million tons). Vladimir Petrichenko, the general director of the analytical company "ProZerno", did not rule out the possibility of a worsening wheat harvest next year compared to the current one.
