The mission of the Russian Embassy in the Republic of the Congo is actively seeking opportunities to establish contacts between Russian grain suppliers and local buyers. This was reported by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Congo, Georgy Chepik, as reported by TASS news agency.
He noted that there is a demand for Russian grain in Congo. However, according to the ambassador, Congo does not have a system like, for example, in Egypt. There is no centralized state mechanism for grain purchases here. Therefore, the embassy is forced to actively seek opportunities to connect our exporters with local buyers.
At the same time, Chepik emphasized that Russian companies, accustomed to working with international traders, have not yet been able to reach an agreement with Congo on new delivery terms. Russian companies traditionally deliver their products to the port of departure in Russia. However, Congolese buyers would like to receive goods at the unloading port. Currently, this is the main issue, explained the diplomat.
In his opinion, Russian companies interested in exporting products, including grain and fertilizers, to Congo, should take the initiative to make such deliveries. The loss of Russian grain has a negative impact on the local consumer market. This also applies to fertilizers. Grain is one of the main export products from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Congo prior to the onset of sanctions, the ambassador concluded.
