According to the USDA's crop tour information, as of March 17, in the state of Kansas, the share of winter wheat crops in good or excellent condition is 55%, which is 2% higher than a week ago. In Texas, this indicator is 46%, also increasing by 2% over the past week. Experts note that the current weather conditions in both of these regions are favorable for plant growth. Overall, the US wheat belt is starting to recover after a long period of drought that prevailed in the past. However, in the state of Oklahoma, the percentage of grain crops in good or excellent condition has decreased to 61%, compared to the previous week when this figure was 65%. At the same time, in Colorado, specialists estimate that 65% of wheat crops are in good or excellent condition, compared to 56% as of February 26 (this is data from the previous update regarding this region). It is worth noting that the area sown with winter wheat in the US in 2024 is estimated at 13.93 million hectares, which is 6% less than the previous year.
