In January 2025, an agreement on cooperation in the field of organic agriculture was signed between the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken", Carlsberg Kazakhstan, and the Union of Organic Producers of Kazakhstan. The agreement aims to create favorable conditions for businesses in the organic production sector, increase the competitiveness of farmers producing organic products for local and global markets, and strengthen the ecological sustainability of agriculture in Kazakhstan.
"Kazakhstan has the potential to become the largest producer of organic products in Central Asia. The main advantages of our country are the low use of mineral fertilizers and pesticides in the fields," noted Erbol Yeseneyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of "Atameken".
According to the agreement, farmers and producers are given new opportunities, including simplified organic product certification through PGS, increased recognition of Kazakhstani organic products in international markets, implementation of modern environmentally friendly technologies, strengthening environmental safety, and increasing soil fertility.
The Director of the Union of Organic Producers of Kazakhstan, Arsen Kerimbekov, noted the growing interest of small farms in organic agriculture in recent years. However, high certification costs are becoming a serious obstacle for micro-businesses.
"This event is particularly important for small farmers, as they have the opportunity to consult with international experts and receive financial support for certifying their agricultural production," emphasized Kerimbekov.
