The most spacious crop traditionally grown is winter wheat, occupying 100.6 thousand hectares for the new harvest. In second place is winter rye, covering 18.8 thousand hectares. Winter barley is sown on a little over 2.7 thousand hectares, while winter triticale covers a slightly larger area of just over 1.3 thousand hectares.
This year, we are seeing an increase in the areas allocated for winter rapeseed.
Winter rapeseed, which has already become traditional for the Bryansk region, covers an area of 86 thousand hectares - this is 17 thousand hectares more than in the autumn of 2023.
All seeds, including about 20.4 thousand tons of winter wheat, 2.9 thousand tons of winter rye, 634 tons of winter barley, 192 tons of winter triticale, and 241 tons of winter rapeseed, have been tested for planting quality by specialists from the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Rosselkhoztsentr" in the Bryansk region and meet the requirements of GOST R 52325-2005.
Planting was carried out in challenging weather conditions this year. Due to prolonged drought in the air and soil, sowing was postponed until the end of September and October. Many farmers, not waiting for rain, were forced to sow in dry soil. Nevertheless, all autumn planting plans were successfully fulfilled.
