The transportation of fertilizers through the Russian Railways network for export in March increased by 15% compared to the same month last year and by 14% by February 2023, to 2.5 million tons, follows from the materials of the company, which Interfax has read.
0.9 million tons of fertilizers were sent to Latin American countries, 0.22 million tons to China, and 0.19 million tons to India.
Shipments to the EU countries in March amounted to 0.22 million tons. In the direction of Switzerland, the traditional jurisdiction of foreign traders of Russian manufacturers, 0.67 million tons of fertilizers were transported.
Export to the CIS countries amounted to 0.15 million tons.
In general, in the first quarter of 2023, export transportation of fertilizers through the Russian Railways network decreased by 11% year-on-year, to 7.2 million tons. Exports through border crossings almost halved, to 1.5 million tons, through ports - increased by almost 12% and amounted to 5.6 million tons.
At the same time, international transit transportation of fertilizers increased by 9 times by January-March 2022, reaching 2.15 million tons.
Domestic transportation increased by 6% and amounted to 8.9 million tons.
The total volume of fertilizer transportation by rail in the first three months of 2023 increased by 10% year-on-year, to 18.5 million tons. In March, this figure amounted to 6.4 million tons, which is almost 10% more than in February.
