In 2023, Pakistan acquired 800 thousand tons of wheat from Russia for 550 million dollars, stated Pakistan's ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"As for bilateral trade, this year it has grown to 733.8 million dollars compared to 388.5 million dollars in the previous year, which represents an increase of 88.9%," the ambassador reported.
According to him, exports from Pakistan reached 88.5 million dollars, while Russian imports to Pakistan reached 645.2 million dollars, an increase of 154% compared to the previous year.
"The main volume of imports from Russia consists of supplies of wheat (550.1 million dollars) and crude oil (20 million dollars). Currently, we are exploring opportunities to increase Pakistani exports to Russia. However, I believe that energy cooperation is one of the sectors where trade needs improvement. Pakistan needs energy,” Jamali added.
"Pakistan imports various types of grains, including regular supplies of chickpeas from Russia. Additionally, this year Pakistan purchased a significant amount of wheat from Russia, about 800 thousand tons. And deliveries will continue in the future as needed," explained the senior Pakistani diplomat.
