Since the beginning of September 2024, a new direct grain transshipment system from railway cars to ships has been launched at the "Sarzha" terminal in the port of Kuryk. Currently, six ships with a total cargo volume of 24.2 thousand tons have already been sent, as reported by the KTZh press service team.
Furthermore, this autumn saw the launch of a new grain terminal at the port of Kuryk, which has the capacity to transship up to one million tons of grain annually. The terminal is equipped with modern storage systems with a capacity of up to 27 thousand tons of grain products. Since its launch in September 2024, three ships with a cargo weight of 11.7 thousand tons have already been dispatched.
The total cargo turnover in the Mangystau Branch freight transportation network increased by 1.3% in the first 11 months of 2024 compared to the same period the previous year, amounting to 6.9 billion tonne-kilometers net. The transportation plan was fulfilled by 19%.
In 2024, for the first time, the Mangystau Branch carried out the shipment and dispatch of ammonia nitrate through the ports of Aktau and Kuryk, following the route of the Trans-Caspian Route, and then through the Azerbaijani port of Gove and the Georgian port of Batumi. It is planned to ship 50 thousand tons of ammonia nitrate for end consumers worldwide.
