A total of 30 million rubles was allocated for the establishment of the laboratory, with 22 million rubles coming from the regional budget, covering 95% of the expenses for purchasing equipment for the laboratory.
The breeding enterprise acquired 482 units of equipment for the laboratory, including general laboratory, analytical, special equipment, research instruments, and consumables.
The current work includes preparing the premises for the laboratory, installing and testing the equipment, as well as preparing the necessary documents for accreditation in accordance with Russian legislation. It is expected that accreditation will be obtained this year. Simultaneously, the laboratory staff are being formed, undergoing training and internships based on existing laboratories in the Russian Federation.
The JSC Breeding Enterprise "Barnaulskoye" announced that the new laboratory will reduce time and financial costs for conducting research for breeding farms in the Altai Krai, especially in meat and dairy livestock farming. In the region, more than 30 agricultural enterprises have licenses for breeding pedigree livestock. Similar services can also be provided to breeding farms from neighboring regions.
Laboratory research will contribute to increasing the efficiency of livestock farming in the Altai Krai through DNA analysis, which will allow only animals with confirmed origins and free from genetic anomalies to be selected for breeding work. Thus, pedigree young animals, free from genetic anomalies and with high genetic potential for productivity, will be sent to commercial farms.
Breeding farms in the Altai Krai widely use expert support.
Alongside the establishment of the new laboratory, the JSC Breeding Enterprise "Barnaulskoye" also equipped laboratories for assessing the quality of milk, immunogenetic expertise of cattle, and transplantation of embryos of dairy cattle productivity orientation.
Additionally, in the LLC "Farm" of Zelyonny District, there is a laboratory that deals with the production, cryopreservation, and transplantation of embryos of beef cattle productivity orientation. It is important to note that grants from the budget of the Altai Krai were provided for the creation of these last two laboratories.
